Disclaimer — read before you plan

A calculator is a flashlight, not a map. Here's what our numbers can and cannot tell you.

What the numbers mean here

Estimates, not offers

Monthly payments, interest totals, and forgiveness projections are modeled estimates. Real payments depend on your exact loan portfolio, servicer rounding, recertification dates, and rule changes over decades.

Simplifications we make

Income is assumed constant for the whole term. Spouse income, state taxes, loan-by-loan weighting, capitalized interest timing, and PSLF qualifying payments are not fully modeled. Family-size effects use the 2024 poverty guidelines for the 48 contiguous states.

The SAVE caveat

Parts of the SAVE plan are subject to ongoing litigation and have been paused or recalculated under interim rules. We show the published 5%/225% formula; your actual SAVE payment may differ materially.

Forgiveness may be taxed

Federal tax treatment of forgiven IDR balances has changed repeatedly. Some states may still tax discharged amounts. A "forgiven" balance is not necessarily free money — plan for the tax question with a professional.

Not affiliated

EduRepay is not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Education, any loan servicer, or any lender. "SAVE," "PAYE," "IBR," and "ICR" are federal program names used descriptively.

Where to verify

For binding answers, use studentaid.gov, your servicer's portal, and your promissory note. For decisions with real money at stake, talk with a nonprofit credit counselor or licensed financial professional.
